News Release

Injury Collision on KY 645 in Lawrence County

Date of News Release: 06/25/2008

(Ashland, KY) - Kentucky State Police is investigating a two-vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of KY 1690 and KY 645 in Lawrence County. James Scott was travelling West on KY 645 and was fully loaded carrying 125,000 lbs. of coal. Unit 1 (Name unavailable) driver pulled out of KY 1690 in an attempt to turn east onto KY 645. Unit 1 driver failed to yield right-of-way and pulled into the path of Mr. Scott's vehicle causing the collision. The contents of Mr. Scott's vehicle were spilled onto the roadway causing the roadway to be shut down for over two hours. The passengers of the coal truck as well as both occupants of the car were flown to St Mary's Hospital. Their condition is unavailable. Mr. Scott suffered minor injuries but refused treatment.

The collision remains under investigation by Trooper Chris Carter.
