Felony Arrest in Carter County

(Ashland, KY) - Kentucky State Police in Ashland have arrested a Carter County resident on felony and misdemeanor charges after she engaged in a physical altercation with troopers from the Kentucky State Police Post Ashland. After troopers arrived at the residence of Tena Pennington to serve arrest warrants, the troopers entered the residence and located Pennington inside of a bedroom. Pennington struck one of the troopers (Trooper Shane Copley) in the face with a broom handle. Pennington was subsequently arrested and charged with an additional felony charge of Assault 3rd degree. She was transported to the Carter County Detention Center. Trooper Shane Copley sustained a minor injury as a result of the assault by Pennington.
The case remains under investigation by Trooper Brittany McMaine.
