News Release

Skeletal Remains Found in Carter County

Date of News Release: 08/08/2008

(Ashland, KY) - On August 7, 2008, Post 14 received information that there were human remains on Leadingham Branch in the Willard Area of Carter County.

Detectives from Post 14 arrived at Leadingham Branch late on the evening of August 7, 2008 and found what appeared to be skeletal remains. The Carter County Coroner, Geore Sparks, and Dr. Emily Craig from the State Medical Examiner's Office were notified.

On August 8, 2008 Detectives from Post 14, Coroner Sparks and Dr. Craig arrived at Leadingham Branch. A search of the area resulted in the finding of skeletal remains. According to Dr. Craig, the remains located were skeletal remains of an adult white male.

The lead investigator is Detective Erik Kouns.
