Law Enforcement Memorial

(Henderson, KY) - The U.S. Congress established May 15th of each year as Police Memorial Day. The 23rd annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #16 will be held on Wednesday, May 14th, at 7:00 PM, at Wing Avenue Baptist Church (Directly off Hwy 60 East, at 628 Wing Avenue, Owensboro).
The keynote speaker will be Rodney Brewer, Commissioner of the Kentucky State Police, with opening remarks by Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement Commissioner Greg Howard.
According to the FBI in 2007, there were 57 officer feloniously killed in the line of duty, and 82 officers died as a result of accidents that occurred in the line of duty. Preliminary numbers show in 2008, 11 officers were feloniously killed in the line of duty, and 14 officers died as a result of accidents that occurred in the line of duty.
We invite you to our Police Memorial Service to honor all officers who unselfishly gave their lives in the performance of their duties.
A reception hosted by the F.O.P. Auxiliary will immediately follow the service.
