News Release

Fatal Collision on US 60 in Union County

Date of News Release: 07/06/2008

(Henderson , KY) - A Silver in color 2005 Lincoln LS was travelling eastbound on US 60 in the area of 8002 US 60 W. Sturgis, KY. The vehicle operated by Stephen C. Adams began to travel left of the center line, at which time Mr. Adams overcorrected causing the vehicle to spin clockwise and travel outside the right shoulder of the roadway facing south. The vehicle struck a concrete culvert causing severe damage to the undercarriage. The vehicle then struck a tree at which time the vehicle spun again and was facing north. The vehicle began to roll and scattered debris along the side of the roadway. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and the vehicle continued to roll. The vehicle came to final rest on its roof facing north and became fully engulfed in flames. A female passenger who has yet to be positively identified by DNA was trapped in the vehicle. The female was pronounced dead at the scene by the Union County Coroner. The cause of death is still to be determined by the Medical examiners office. Mr. Adams was transported to the Union County Methodist Hospital and was later transferred to Henderson Methodist Hospital and treated for lacerations and an unknown ankle injury and was released. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
