Fatal Motorcycle Collision on Backusburg Road in Graves County

Date of News Release: 08/05/2008

(Mayfield, KY) - A Calloway county man was killed in a single motorcycle collision on Backusburg Road near Mayfield. At approximately 6:30 AM, Kentucky State Police responded to a report of a motorcycle that ran off of the roadway on KY 464, commonly known as Backusburg Road. Troopers responded to the scene to find a Suzuki motorcycle at the bottom of an embankment on the right side of the highway. Witnesses stated that the motorcycle traveled off of the road for unknown reasons. The driver of the motorcycle was later identified as 40 year old, Darryl Sittig, of Kirksey. Sittig was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Graves County Coroner's Office. Kentucky State Police was assisted by the Mayfield/Graves Co. EMS/Rescue and the Graves County Sheriff's Office. The collision is being investigated by Trooper Joe Gregory with the Kentucky State Police.
