Injury Collision on Interstate 24 in Lyon County
Date of News Release: 08/09/2008
(Mayfield, KY) - Movita Morris was operating her 2005 Nissan when she entered Interstate 24 travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes. Greg Orange was operating his 2008 Nissan westbound on Interstate 24. Ms. Morris' vehicle struck Mr. Orange's vehicle head on. All occupants have been transported to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN. Ms. Morris and Mr. Orange are both in critical condition. All other occupants have serious injuries but none are considered life-threatening at this time. Occupants of both vehicles were all wearing their seatbelts. Interstate 24 westbound lanes were shut down at Exit 40 for approximately two hours. Trooper Paull was assisted at the scene by Sgt Lewie Dodd, Trooper Jason Clark, Trooper Jon Pagan, Lyon County Sheriff's Department, Kuttawa Fire Department, Eddyville Fire Department, Lyon County Rescue, Lyon County EMS, State Highway Department, PHI , and Air Evac.
