News Release

Drug Arrest in Hopkins County

Date of News Release: 11/04/2008

(Madisonville, KY) - Troopers from the Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville and officers from the Dawson Springs Police Department executed search warrants at two, separate residences in the Dawson Springs area.

On November 3, 2008 at approximately 11:45 p.m., troopers and officers executed a search warrant at a residence located on West Walnut Street. Upon entering the residence, troopers and officers located marijuana in plain view in the living room. Chad Massey was located in a bedroom. Troopers and officers also located more marijuana, digital scales, a controlled substance (a pill) and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Massey was arrested without incident and charged with the offenses of Trafficking in Marijuana Less Than 8 oz. 2nd or > Offense, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd or > Offense & Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree 1st Offense. He was lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.

On November 4, 2008 at approximately 12:22 a.m., troopers and officers executed a search warrant at a residence located on Hubert Williams Road. Upon entering the residence, troopers and officers detected an odor of marijuana. Inside a juvenile's room, troopers and officers located marijuana, drug paraphernalia, alcohol, and a controlled substance (a pill). Debra Kirkwood was arrested without incident and charged with the offenses of Unlawful Transaction with a Minor 2nd Degree (2 counts) & Unlawful Transaction with a Minor 3rd Degree (2 counts). She was lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center. A juvenile was cited for the offenses of Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 1st Offense & Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree 1st Offense. The juvenile was released to another family member.
