Injury Collison on Edward T. Breathitt Parkway in Hopkins County

(Madisonville, KY) - James Riordan was operating a 2006 Freightliner northbound on the Edward T. Breathitt Parkway. He had pulled into the emergency lane with his emergency flashers on at the 37 mile-marker northbound on the Edward T. Breathitt Parkway. David Bush was operating a 2007 Volvo tractor-trailer northbound on the Edward T. Breathitt Parkway when he sideswiped Mr. Riordan's vehicle which caused Mr. Bush's vehicle to jackknife blocking the northbound lanes. Mr. Riordan's vehicle sustained severe damage and over 75 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled onto the roadway. Mr. Bush and his passenger, Richard Grimm Jr., along with Mr. Riordan were all transported by ambulance to the Regional Medical Center Hospital for treatment. They were all treated and released. EPA was notified and assisted in the cleanup of the fuel spill. Mr. Bush and Mr. Riordan were wearing seatbelts. Mr. Grimm was not wearing a seatbelt.
