Update to Death Investigation on I-65 in Warren County
Date of News Release: 02/20/2008
(Bowling Green) - All preliminary reports from the Kentucky State Medical Examiner's Office have been concluded, and forwarded to Post 3 Investigators and to the Warren County Coroner's Office. After a thorough investigation by Detective Forrest Winchester and Arson Investigator David West, it has been concluded that William Bruce Dugas' death appears to have been accidental. The cause of death is listed as smoke inhalation and acute thermal injury.
There is no indication of foul play. During the course of the investigation, Detectives learned from eyewitnesses at the scene that Mr. Dugas' vehicle was parked at the rest area while the engine was running. Moments later witnesses observed a flame emitting from underneath the vehicles engine compartment.
The preliminary toxicology reports indicate that Mr. Dugas was possibly under the influence of intoxicants before his death. The case will remain open, but the investigation has been concluded.
