Update to Murder in Powell County

Date of News Release 01/31/08

(Morehead, KY) - Rick Lee Puryear, 36 of Jeffersonville was arrested and charged with Murder for allegedly shooting and causing Flora's death. Mr. Puryear is lodged in the Powell County Jail.

(Morehead, KY) - At 0844 this morning (1/20/2008) Post 8 received a call from Powell County Dispatch of a subject laying in the ditch line. The deceased victim was identified as 22 year old Michael Flora of Mt. Sterling. Coroner Carl Wells Jr., pronounced Mr. Flora deceased at the scene. The next of kin has been notified. Autopsy is scheduled for Monday (1/21/07) morning at the State Medical Examiners Office in Frankfort. Case remains under investigation by Detective Larry Bowling.
