Fire and Death Investigation in Morgan County

Date of News Release: 04/15/2008

(Morehead, KY) - State Police at Morehead and the Morgan County Coroner are investigating a death in relation to a fire at a residence located on KY 191, in Cannel City. At around 3:00am West Liberty Dispatch received a call in reference to a home on fire on KY 191 in Cannel City. Units of the Caney Valley Fire Dept, West Liberty Fire Dept, Black Water Fire Dept and KY 172 Fire Dept responded and put out the blaze. The remains of two bodies were discovered in the debris and have been taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort next date Wednesday April 16, 2008 for an autopsy and identiifcation of the deceased. The victims were pronounced dead at 1:15pm by Morgan County Coroner Kenny Perry. The residence suffered severe damage as a result of the fire. The investigation continues pending verification of identity of the victims. No foul play is suspected at this stage of the investigation.
