News Release

Fatal House Fire in Pike County

Date of News Release: 03/18/2008

(Pikeville, KY)- On March 18, 2008 at 11:40 EST Post 9-Pikeville received a call of a structure fire on Prater Bottom in the Kimper community of Pike county. Kimper, Phelps and Johns Creek Fire Departments responded to the scene. Phoebe Leedy and her 4 year old boy was able to leave the residence without injury. Twenty three month old Patrick Pinion was unaccounted for at the time of the fire. After extinguishing the fire Patrick was found inside the residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Pike County Deputy Coroner Zeb Hampton. The fire is being investigated by Kentucky State Police Detective Kevin Newsome and Arson Investigator Don Parker. At this time the cause of fire is undetermined but foul play is not suspected.
