Double Murder Investigation & Arrest in Floyd County

Date of News Release: 03/20/2008

(Pikeville, KY)- On Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 6:30 pm EST, Post 9-Pikeville, received a call of shots fired at a residence on Sunflower Lane in the Abbott Creek community of Floyd County.

KSP Trooper Chris Hicks arrived at the scene and discovered the suspect, Berry Hall standing outside the victim's residence. Mr. Hall surrendered and was taken into custody without incident. The preliminary investigation reveals that the neighbors have had a long on going dispute. The arguments escalated today and resulted in Mr. Hall firing a rifle at the victims, Lisa Lynn Tackett (30 years of age) and Alan Keith Tackett (47 years of age). Both Lisa and Alan Tackett were pronounced dead at the scene by Floyd County Coroner Roger Nelson. Mr. Hall (45 years of age) was charged with Murder (2 counts) and lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.

The incident remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Detective Ben Cramer.
