One Killed on US 119 in Pike County

(Pikeville, KY)- Kentucky State Police are investigating the death of a local coal truck driver that occurred at approximately 9:09 pm on Monday, April 21st, 2008. The driver, Mr. Kenneth Mounts, age 42 of Pikeville reportedly parked his coal truck on the shoulder of southbound U.S. 119 in the Buckley's Creek Area and exited the vehicle. The vehicle reportedly began to roll and Mr. Mounts made an apparent attempt to jump back into the cab to apply the brakes. While doing so, Mr. Mounts apparently fell and was struck and pinned by the truck. Mr. Mounts was pronounced dead by Pike County Coroner Russell Roberts. The incident remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Post 9.
