News Release

Fatal Collision on KY 319 in Pike County

Date of News Release: 05/06/2008

(Pikeville, KY)- On May 6, 2008 at 7:14 AM EST Pikeville Post 9 received a call of a motor vehicle collision on KY 319 in the Hardy community of Pike County.

Preliminary investigation reveals that Jack Stacy, 34 years of age of Belfry, was operating his 2000 Ford Ranger on KY 319 when he crossed the center line while going through a curve. Stacy then struck a 1999 Ford F350 operated by Sherman Lester, 52 years of age of Hardy. Lester's vehicle then came to final rest in the creek.

Stacy was pronounced dead on the scene at 8:08 AM by Pike County Deputy Coroner Mike Hall. Lester was transported to South Williamson ARH where he was treated and released.

The collision remains under investigation by Trooper Hoyt Smith.
