News Release

Fatal ATV Collision on Blair View Drive in Pike County

Date of News Release: 05/26/2008

(Pikeville, KY)- On May 25, 2008 at 4:38 PM EST Pikeville Post 9 received a call of a ATV on the railroad tracks off of Blair View Drive in the Virgie community of Pike County.

A male thirteen (13) year old was operating a 2008 Yamaha Rhino ATV along the ralroad tracks when the ATV got stuck in the gravels. The ATV went into the creek when the juveniles were trying to free it from the gravels. Both the male juvenile operator and the twelve (12) year old female passenger, Sarah Colley, were transported to Pikeville Medical Center. Ms. Colley was pronounced dead at the Pike Medical Center Emergency Room at 6:09 pm.

The collision remains under investigation Trooper Michael Webb. Trooper Webb was assisted on the scene by Sgt David Peppi, DHP Ambulance and Shelby Valley Fire Department.
