Suspect Arrested in 1975 Rest Area Murder

An image of Billy Ray Crisp, click to enlarge (Pikeville, KY) - Billy R. Crisp was arrested without incident after turning himself in at the Kentucky State Police Post in Pikeville today (09/04/08). Mr. Crisp had been originally listed as missing by Post 9 after family members reported that he left home more than 10 days ago. Shortly thereafter, the Ohio State Highway Patrol entered Mr. Crisp as a wanted person in reference to the 1975 murder of Woodrow Perroud at a Pike County Ohio rest area. Mr. Crisp was lodged at the Pike County Detention Center by Sgt. Steve Spurlock.

(Pikeville, KY) - Billy Ray Crisp is wanted by the Ohio Highway Patrol, Bureau of Investigation, for the 1975 murder of Woodrow, (Woody), Perroud. Woodrow Perroud was killed on U.S. 23 at the Wakefield Mounds rest area in Pike County, Ohio from a gunshot to the head. Mr. Perroud and Mr. Crisp were brother-in-laws at the time and were from the Lower Johns Creek area of Pike County KY. Warrants have been issued in Ohio for Billy Ray Crisp and he is entered into N.C.I.C. for Murder. He is also entered by the Kentucky State Police Post 09 Pikeville, KY as a missing person. It is believed that crisp is armed and dangerous. Authorities advised anyone with information to the whereabouts of Billy Ray Crisp not to approach him, but to contact the Kentucky State Police or their local authorities. He is believed to be driving a 2004 charcoal gray ford F250 with a push bar and a metal tool box in the back.
