Two Killed in a Collision on State Highway 194 East in Pike County

Date of News Release: 09/19/2008

(Pikeville, KY) - On 9/24/2008 Post 9 received a call of a 2-vehicle collision on State Highway 194 East in the Phelps area of Pike County. Upon investigation, it was determined that Richard Runyon was traveling East on State Highway 194, when he crossed the center line and struck the vehicle Mr. Delaney Mapes was operating, head on. Both Mr. Runyon and Mr.Mapes was airlifted from the scene to Holston Valley Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead. The collision is still under investigation by Trooper Jimmy Anderson.
