Fatal Collision on US 23 in Harold, KY

Date of News Release: 10/04/2008

(Pikeville, KY) - A 2000 Chevrolet pick-up operated by Jonathan Pente, 37, of Harold was traveling northbound in the southbound travel lanes of US 23 at Harold when it struck a southbound 2003 Dodge van operated by Christopher Boley, 21, of Pikeville. A passenger in the Mr. Boley vehicle, Loretta G. Elswick, 63, of Pikeville was pronounced dead at the scene by Floyd County Coroner Roger Nelson. Mr. Boley and one of his passengers were airlifted from the scene. Another passenger of the Mr. Boley vehicle was transported by ambulance to Pikeville Medical Center. Mr. Pente fled the scene of the collision on foot, but was later located and arrested in the area. Mr. Pente's charges include Murder and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. The collision is under investigation by Post 9 Detective Eddie Crum.
