Mt. Washington Woman Indicted

(FRANKFORT, KY) - The Kentucky State Police charged Penny McLaughlin, age 44, of Mt. Washington, Ky., on six counts for Willfully Filing False Tax Returns or Failure to Pay Tax and five counts of Willfully Assisting Others in Preparation of False Tax Returns with the Kentucky Department of Revenue during the years 2000 through 2005.

McLaughlin, owner and operator of McLaughlin Financial Services Inc, was charged after the Franklin County Grand Jury returned indictments for her on January 10, 2007. Each count is a Class D Felony, which carries a prison sentence of at least one-year, but not more than five years.

The charges are a result of a one-year investigation by the Kentucky State Police and the Ky. Department of Revenue, which alleged that McLaughlin prepared and filed Kentucky Individual Income Tax Returns for an individual with information she knew was false.
