Kentucky State Police Investigates In-Custody Incident in Marshall County
BENTON, Ky. (Aug 13, 2026) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) has been requested by KSP Post 1 in Mayfield to investigate an interaction involving an in-custody Marshall County man. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office arrested Mr. Kendrick Owens on the morning of Thursday, August 13, charging him with Public Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct, Assault 3rd Degree, and Resisting Arrest. Following his arrest and while at the Marshall County Detention Center, Mr. Owens became unresponsive and deputies requested medical personnel assistance. Mr. Owens was initially transported to a local hospital before being transported to a Louisville hospital, where he was reported to be in critical condition. No other injuries were reported. The investigation remains ongoing.
