Kentucky State Police Investigate Breathitt County Child Exploitation

JACKSON, Ky (September 11, 2026) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) is investigating an incident that began Sunday, September 6, 2026, after receiving a complaint at approximately 5:00 p.m. regarding a male subject who was communicating online with an individual believed to be an underage female.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a male subject had engaged in online conversations with the individual over an extended period of time and had made plans to meet in person at an establishment in the Jackson community of Breathitt County. The account involved in the communications was operated by an undercover decoy.

On September 6th, KSP troopers, along with officers from the Jackson Police Department, conducted an operation in response to the complaint. Officers observed a male subject matching the clothing description provided to the undercover decoy walking into the business previously agreed as the meeting location. Troopers along with officers made contact with the male subject and detained him.

The subject was identified as Jason White, 45, of Lost Creek. During an interview with investigators, White admitted to sending the messages to the account. Following questioning, White was placed under arrest and transported to Kentucky River Regional Jail where he was charged with one count of Procuring or Promoting Use of A Minor by Electronic Means and one count of Promoting Human Trafficking (Victim U/18 YOA).

Kentucky State Police encourage parents and guardians to remain vigilant regarding their children’s online activities and to discuss the potential dangers associated with communicating with unknown individuals online.

This incident remains under investigation by Trooper Dennis Howard.
