Kentucky State Police Post 2 Citizens Police Academy – Now accepting applications

Madisonville, KY. – The Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville is now accepting applications for the 2017 Kentucky State Police Citizens Police Academy. The 11-week academy is slated to begin on February 16th and conclude on April 27th. Students will meet on Thursdays from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., where they will learn about the many facets of the KSP including patrol, criminal investigations, and drug investigations. Students will also get to take part in simulated traffic stops and evidence collection scenarios.

The academy will be held at the Hopkinsville Community College. Applications may be obtained at the KSP Post 2 or by contacting Post 2 at 270-676-3313. Applications may also be obtained by visiting http://www.kentuckystatepolice.org/posts/post2.htm. Anyone 18 years of age or older living within the Post 2 District is welcome to apply. There is no cost to attend. Previous graduates of the KSP Citizens Police Academy are not eligible to attend. All applicants will be subject to a background check. KSP has a toll-free number (1-800-222-5555) that citizens can call to confidentially report impaired drivers or criminal activity. They can also download the free KSP mobile phone app. The app provides quick, direct access to KSP including weather, road and traffic information as well as text, voice and photo tip capabilities to report criminal behavior. The app is available for iPhone, iPad and Android applications and can be easily downloaded free of charge through Apple and Google Play stores.
