Kentucky State Police: Two Arrested After Death of 10-Month-Old Infant
EARLINGTON, Ky. (08/14/2025)– On 08/03/2025, Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 2 was contacted by Hopkins County dispatch requesting an investigation of the death of a 10-month-old infant in Earlington.
Preliminary investigation revealed the 10-month-old was pronounced deceased by the Hopkins County Coroner inside the residence of the infant’s caretakers.
Through a thorough investigation and autopsy, it was determined foul play was the cause of death.
The infant’s biological mother, Samantha Stagner, 27, of Earlington, Ky, and the mother’s boyfriend, Dayton Mason, 29, of Earlington, Ky, were arrested today and lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.
Samantha Stagner and Dayton Mason were both charged with Manslaughter 1st degree.
The investigation is ongoing by Detective Fortney. No additional details regarding the investigation will be released at this time.
