Owensboro Woman Arrested for Theft of Identity

 

OWENSBORO, KY (March 12, 2018) – Kentucky State Police were contacted by Tennessee authorities yesterday regarding an investigation where a person in Owensboro was using a Tennessee woman’s identity on a work application in Owensboro.

 KSP troopers launched an investigation and arrested Rosita Cano, 29 of Owensboro.

Troopers say Cano was using a Chattanooga woman’s credentials on a work application to appear she was a legal resident. During the investigation, troopers discovered multiple counterfeit Social Security Cards with different identities, multiple state identification cards with different names but all with photos of Cano attached and tax and insurance documents where Cano received benefits under her aliases.

Cano was transported to the Daviess County Detention Center in Owensboro and charges with:
1) Theft of Identity of Another without Their Consent
2) Two (2) counts of Forgery 2nd Degree
3) Three (3) counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree
4) Receive Goods or Services by Fraud Under $10,000 (within six months)

The investigation is on-going by Kentucky State Police, Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
