Kentucky State Police Arrest Mayfield Man for Sexual Offenses

MAYFIELD, Ky. (March 12, 2026) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 1 troopers arrested a Mayfield man following an investigation into inappropriate sexual relations with a juvenile.

On March 5, 2026, KSP Post 1 troopers began an investigation into an inappropriate relationship between James W. King, 39 of Mayfield, Kentucky, and a female juvenile. Through investigation, it was learned King and the juvenile had communicated through social media, discussing using drugs and explicit sexual activity. During the communication, plans were made to meet late one night. On March 3, King picked the juvenile up and drove her to another location where they engaged in drug use and sexual activity.

On March 10, a warrant was obtained for King. Troopers arrested King at his residence on March 11 without incident. King was charged with Unlawful Transaction with a Minor, 1st Degree – Illegal Sex Act, Victim Under 16 Years of Age, Unlawful Transaction with a Minor, 1st Degree – Illegal Controlled Substance, Victim Under 16 Years of Age, Rape, 2nd Degree, Procurement or Promoting the Use of Minor by Electronic Means, Possession of Matter Portraying the Sexual Performance by Minor, Victim Over 12 < 18, 1st Offense, Use of a Minor (U/16 Years of Age) in a Sexual Performance, and Human Trafficking – Commercial Sexual Activity (Victim Under 18). He was taken to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center and later transported to the McCracken County Regional Detention Center.
