Kentucky State Police Arrest Kentucky State Penitentiary Employee for Sexual Offenses

EDDYVILLE, Ky. (March 16, 2026) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 1 detectives have arrested a caseworker employed at the Kentucky State Penitentiary after investigating a report of an inappropriate relationship with an inmate.

At 3:40pm CST today, KSP Post 1 received a call from the Kentucky State Penitentiary advising that an employee had been observed on security footage engaging in sexual intercourse with an inmate. Troopers and a detective responded to the scene and opened an investigation. The employee has been identified as Alysta Mathis, 26 years old of Dawson Springs, Ky. 

Based upon the preliminary investigation, including review of video footage, Mathis was arrested and charged with Rape 3rd Degree and Sodomy 3rd Degree. She was transported to the Crittenden County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing by Detective Propes.
