Kentucky State Police Arrest Shively Man After Multi-County Pursuit

WICKLIFFE, Ky. (March 9, 2026) – Troopers with Kentucky State Police, Post 1 Mayfield have arrested a man following a pursuit that led law enforcement through Ballard, McCracken, and Marshall Counties.

On Sunday, March 8, 2026 just after 9:00 p.m. CST, Trooper Max Dikin with KSP Post 1 observed a maroon 2012 Lincoln MKZ on N 4th Street in Wickliffe with an equipment violation. Trooper Dikin attempted to conduct a traffic stop by activating his emergency equipment; however, the operator failed to yield and continued onto KY 286, heading eastbound out of Wickliffe, at a high rate of speed. The pursuit continued through Ballard County and into McCracken County on US HWY 62. Law enforcement attempted to use a tire deflation device on the fleeing vehicle at the intersection at US 62 and North Gum Springs Road, but was unsuccessful. A second tire deflation device was utilized successfully at the intersection of US 62 and Interstate 24, deflating two tires on the fleeing vehicle. However, KSP Troopers and deputies with McCracken County Sheriff’s Office continued the pursuit onto Interstate 24 and into Marshall County. Near the 24-mile marker, officers with the Calvert City Police Department used a tire deflation device to deflate the remaining two tires. The vehicle continued to flee, and KSP Trooper Connor Dunigan performed a legal intervention maneuver, causing it to exit the roadway and stop on an embankment. The operator, Damon L. Crawford, 23 of Shively, Kentucky, was arrested without further incident.

Crawford was charged in both Ballard and Marshall Counties with Fleeing or Evading, 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle), Speeding, Reckless Driving, and other traffic-related offenses. He was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

Kentucky State Police, Post 1, was assisted by the McCracken County Sheirff’s Office and the Calvert City Police Department.
