KSP Makes Arrest after Pursuit in Graves County

Trooper Ray is continuing his investigation.

Hickory, KY (April 20, 2019)Trooper Mike Ray was on routine patrol in Graves County traveling south on US 45 on April 19, 2019 when he observed a Gray Toyota fail to stop at the intersection of KY 1748 and US 45 at approximately 1:47 P.M.  After running the stop sign the Gray Toyota being driven by, Mark W. Basham, 33 of Paducah, turned north on US 45.  Trooper Ray initiated his emergency equipment to stop the vehicle.   After turning around, he witnessed the vehicle speeding away and passing in a no passing zone. In an attempt to elude KSP, Basham turned onto Pritchett Rd and then into a driveway where he struck an earth embankment.  Basham exited his vehicle and fled on foot.  After a short foot pursuit, Basham was taken into custody.  Basham was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol / Drugs .08 1st Offense (Class B Misdemeanor), Fleeing and evading 1st Motor Vehicle (Class D Felony), Fleeing or Evading 2nd on Foot (Class A Misdemeanor), Disregarding a Stop Sign (Violation), Improper Passing (Violation), and Possession of Open Alcohol Container (Violation). Basham was lodged in the Graves County Jail.
