Kentucky State Police Investigating Kentucky State Penitentiary Inmate Assault on Lieutenant
EDDYVILLE, Ky. (April 7, 2026) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 1 detectives are investigating the report of an inmate at the Kentucky State Penitentiary assaulting a lieutenant last week.
On Friday, April 2, 2026 at 4:58 p.m. CDT, KSP Post 1 received a call from the Kentucky State Penitentiary advising that an inmate had stabbed a lieutenant and the lieutenant was being taken to an area hospital. Troopers and detectives responded to the penitentiary and the hospital to conduct an investigation. The initial investigation shows that Sean Noakes, 57 years old of Florence, Ky. stabbed Lieutenant Zabulon Pierre with a sharp object. Lieutenant Pierre was treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital.
Sean Noakes is currently incarcerated at the Kentucky State Penitentiary for a Murder conviction from Boone County. During his time incarcerated at the Kentucky State Penitentiary, Noakes has also been convicted of three additional felony assault charges for incidents occurring at the Kentucky State Penitentiary.
The investigation remains ongoing and will be presented to the Lyon County Grand Jury.
