Kentucky State Police Post 1 Reports Weekend Activity

MAYFIELD, Ky. (May 18, 2026) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 1 troopers remain dedicated to our mission statement of promoting public safety with honor, courage and commitment to prevent, reduce, and deter crime and the fear of crime; enhance highway safety through education and enforcement; protect and safeguard individual rights; and provide leadership, training, technical, and operational support to the criminal justice community. Although summer does not officially arrive for another month, we have noticed increased traffic and travel, esspecially around the lake areas with the warmer weather moving in. We would like to take a moment to remind the public of our efforts to ensure everyone’s safety and ask the public to do their part in keeping our communities safe.

Over this past weekend, between Friday May 15th at 4:00pm CT through Monday May 18th at 2:00am CT, KSP Post 1 troopers conducted at least 97 traffic stops, resulting in at least 86 cited traffic violations, two (2) arrests, and 39 courtesy notices. Troopers also conducted two traffic safety checkpoints and two saturation patrol details in an effort to ensure the safety of the motoring public. In addition to highway safety initiatives, troopers responded to 43 calls for service, attended 4 school visits for graduations, and served a warrant of arrest for Solicitation of Sodomy 1st Degree.

We would like to remind motorists to buckle up, put the phone down, and drive sober. KSP Post 1 is currently participating in three enforcement campaigns focused on occupant protection. These campaigns include Operation C.A.R.E (Crash Awareness and Reduction Efforts), the 6-State Trooper Project, and Click It Or Ticket
