Kentucky State Police Investigating Fatal Collision in Lyon County

EDDYVILLE, Ky. (July 10, 2024) – Kentucky State Police (KSP), Post 1 was notified shortly after 5:00pm CT on Monday, July 8th of a two vehicle collision near the 42 mile marker on I-24 in Lyon County. The collision claimed the life of a Lyon County man.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Brent Burban, 54 years old of Eddyville, KY was operating a 2001 Toyota Avalon eastbound on I-24. Evan Ralph, 28 years old of Ellicott City, MD was operating a 2020 Ford Transit van westbound on I-24. For reasons still under investigation, Mr. Burban’s vehicle crossed the median into the westbound lanes in the path of Mr. Ralph’s vehicle. The vehicles collided in the westbound lanes. Mr. Burban was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mr. Ralph did not report any injuries. 

The collision investigation remains ongoing by Trooper Cody Jackson.
