Kentucky State Police Charge Ballard County Inmate With Attempted Escape and Assault

WICKLIFFE, Ky. (July 16, 2025) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 1 has charged a Ballard County Jail inmate after he reportedly attempted to escape the facility and assaulted two corrections employees.

On July 11th at 10:50pm, KSP Post 1 received information from River County 911 advising that Ballard County Sheriff’s Office had requested KSP to investigate an incident that occurred at the Ballard County Jail. It was reported that an inmate had attempted to escape and assaulted two deputy jailers in the process of attempting to escape. Troopers responded to the jail and began an investigation.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Jeremy Lynn entered the control room of the Ballard County Jail, assaulted a corrections employee who was in the control room and attempted to unlock doors from within the control room. Lynn then assaulted a second corrections employee who entered the control room before he was taken back into custody. 

Jeremy Lynn, 32 years old of Lovelaceville, KY was arrested and charged with Escape 1st Degree (Attempt) and two counts of Assault 3rd Degree – Inmate Assault on Correctional Employee. He remains lodged at the Ballard County Jail.

Neither correctional employee required medical attention.
