Kentucky State Police Post 1 Troopers and Officers Recognized at Annual Awards Ceremony
LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 27, 2026) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) recently honored 84 troopers, detectives and officers who went above and beyond the call of service in 2025. The KSP annual Sworn Awards Ceremony highlighted those who are dedicated to protecting Kentucky’s 120 counties with a mission of creating a safer commonwealth for future generations.
In 2025, KSP responded to 532,600 calls for assistance, conducted thousands of wellness checks during dangerous weather conditions, protected children from online predators, secured justice for victims, and assisted local law enforcement agencies as needed to promote safety throughout the commonwealth.
Recipients from the Post 1 area include:
- Detective Adam Jones was named the 2025 Post 1 Detective of the Year. Detective Jones is a 12-year veteran of the agency.
- Trooper Kelly Underhill was named the 2025 Post 1 Trooper of the Year. Trooper Underhill is a 3-year veteran of the agency.
- Trooper Eric West received a Lifesaving Award. Trooper West is a 12-year veteran of the agency.
- Detective Nathan Moore received a Lifesaving Award. Detective Moore is an 8-year veteran of the agency.
- Officer Mark Townsend was named the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer of the Year for the West Region. Officer Townsend is a 19-year veteran of the agency.
Post 1 Commander, Captain Joey Adams, remarked, “I am proud to have these professionals at Post 1 who are each well-deserving of the awards they received. I am thankful for their dedication to this agency and their service to our community.”
