
Kentucky State Police Assisting with Lyon County School Threat
***UPDATE*** EDDYVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 26, 2025) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 1 is leading the investigation into a threat at Lyon County Schools. Students are currently being reunified with their families. Parents and guardians are asked to remain patient as the reunification process continues. All students are safe and accounted for.
At 12:22pm CT KSP Post 1 was notified by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office that their office received a threat via phone indicating that a person was at Lyon County High School armed with a gun. All Lyon County schools were immediately locked down. School Resource Officers onscene were quickly joined by law enforcement officers from multiple agencies to secure the school campus and conduct searches. Preliminary and subsequent searches concluded that no active threats were found within the Lyon County School buildings. Searches included the use of a KSP explosives detection K9. In accordance with school policy, students were transported off campus to a reunification site where law enforcement and school officials are working together to ensure all students were safely reunited with their parents/guardians.
The investigation remains ongoing as KSP Post 1 troopers and detectives are working to determine the source of the threat.
KSP would like to thank the following agencies for their assistance: Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Eddyville Police Department, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement, US Department of Agriculture Forest Service Law Enforcement, Trigg County Sheriff’s Office, Lyon County EMS, Livingston County EMS, Caldwell County EMS, AirEvac, Eddyville Fire Department, and Kuttawa Fire Department.

EDDYVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 26, 2025) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) troopers and detectives are on scene at Lyon County School campus assisting local agencies after a threat was reported to Lyon County High School. At this time, there have not been any reports of injuries to any students or staff. Investigators on scene indicate that there have been no shots fired. Lyon County School District will be releasing reunification instructions to parents and guardians. KSP troopers will be assisting with reunification of students. # # #
