Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Collision in Clay County

MANCHESTER, Ky. (October 23, 2025) – On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at approximately 8:36 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 11, London was notified by Clay County 911 of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision on U.S. Highway 421 North at the junction of Young Drive in Clay County.

The preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 8:13 p.m., Clay County 911 received a call regarding a male subject wearing all black clothing walking in the roadway of U.S. 421 North. At approximately 8:28 p.m., dispatch received multiple calls reporting that the male had been struck by a vehicle.

The initial investigation determined that Shannon S. Bryant, 35 years old, of Manchester, was walking in the northbound lane of U.S. 421 when he was struck by a 2020 Cadillac XT4 operated by 20-year-old Hannah L. Hoskins, of Manchester. Moments later, Mr. Bryant was struck a second time by a 2005 Buick Lacrosse operated by 62-year-old Marie C. Becknell, also of Manchester, who was traveling northbound on U.S. 421.

Mr. Bryant was transported Clay County EMS to Advent Health, where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 9:35 p.m. by the Clay County Coroner.

Detective Shane Bowling is leading the investigation and was assisted at the scene by KSP Personnel, the Clay County EMS, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, and Clay County Coroner’s Office.
