Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatality In McCreary County

Whitley City, KY. (December 05, 2023)- Kentucky State Police Post 11, London responded to a single vehicle fatal collision that occurred just after 5:45 pm on December 04, 2023. The accident occurred at the 3500 Block of Beulah Heights Road in McCreary County.

Through preliminary investigation, officers determined a 2002 GMC Sonoma operated by 85-year-old Earl Crabtree of Pine Knot, KY was traveling north on Beulah Height Road when he lost control of his vehicle leaving the right side of the road hitting a tree. Mr. Crabtree was entrapped in his vehicle and was freed by Whitley City Fire Department. McCreary County EMS transported the victim via Air Medivac to Lexington, but Mr. Crabtree succumbed to his injuries in transport and was pronounced deceased in Fayette County by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.

KSP Trooper Matthew Brumley is continuing the investigation. He was assisted at the scene by additional Post 11 personnel, McCreary Co. Sheriff’s Department, McCreary Co. Ambulance Service, and the Whitley City Fire Department.
