Kentucky State Police Investigate Whitley County Fatal Fire

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (April 13, 2026) – On Sunday April 12, 2026, around 8:19 a.m. EDT, the Kentucky State Police Post 11 in London received a report of human remains found in the remnants of a structure fire on Lot-Mud Creek Road in Williamsburg, Ky. South Whitley Fire Department was on scene the previous night, April 11, 2026, and found the remains after the fire had been extinguished.

Troopers arrived on scene and were assisted by the Whitley County Corners Office in collecting the remains. The Whitley County Coroner pronounced the unidentified person deceased and requested an autopsy be conducted.

Currently, no foul play is suspected. The investigation remains ongoing and is being led by Trooper Josh Roaden. He was assisted on scene by KSP Personnel, South Whitley Fire Department, and the Whitley County Coroner’s Office.
