Kentucky State Police Post 11 Traffic Safety Checkpoint Announcement

LONDON, Ky. (August 1, 2026) — Kentucky State Police Post 11 will be conducting periodic traffic safety checkpoints at locations approved by the Kentucky State Police Policy and Procedures Manual. In addition to these checkpoints, Post 11 troopers will also conduct special traffic enforcement operations in high-collision areas, utilizing radar, laser and saturation patrols.

The intent of a traffic safety checkpoint is to provide a high-visibility public safety service, focusing on operator impairment, vehicular equipment deficiencies (confirming appropriate registration and insurance), and the valid licensing of drivers. Other violations of law and/or other public safety issues that arise will be addressed.

These checkpoints will allow the Kentucky State Police to periodically concentrate its efforts on checking for violations of Kentucky traffic and regulatory laws, ultimately increasing the safety of citizens within the commonwealth.

Post 11 serves the following counties: Laurel, Clay, Rockcastle, Whitley, Pulaski, McCreary and Wayne.
