Kentucky State Police Post 11 Investigates Shooting in Whitley County

SILER, Ky. (August 22, 2026) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 11 London is investigating a shooting at a Whitley County home.

On August 21, 2026, KSP Post 11 was contacted by Whitley County 911 about a shooting that occurred on Harps Creek Rd. in the Siler community of Whitley County. The victim, Delbert Bolton, 64 years old of Siler, KY, suffered a gunshot wound. Mr. Bolton was transported via ambulance to Baptist Health in Corbin, and later flown to the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital, where he remains in their care.

Preliminary investigation determined that Zachary A. Partin, 27 years old of Siler, KY, and Mr. Bolton got into an argument at Mr. Bolton’s residence. The argument escalated, and then Mr. Partin shot Mr. Bolton in the abdomen and then fled the scene. Police were able to search the area and residence for Mr. Partin, who has not been located at this time.

This investigation remains ongoing by Detective Samuel Peace of KSP Post 11. He was assisted on scene by Whitley County EMS, Whitley County Sheriff’s Office, Williamsburg Police Department, Whitley County Emergency Management, and KSP personnel.
