Kentucky State Police Post 11 Joins the 6-State Trooper Project

September’s Initiative Focuses on Felons with Firearms.

LONDON, Ky. (September 17, 2026) — The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 11 London is participating in a multi-state initiative aimed at reducing crime and keeping illegal firearms out of local communities. From September 17-20, 2026, state troopers from Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia join forces for the 6-State Trooper Project.

Each of the 6-State Trooper Project’s enforcement periods targets a specific traffic or criminal safety concern. September’s effort concentrates on criminal patrol operations, specifically on identifying illegal firearms carried by felons traveling on Kentucky roadways. Troopers will use traffic enforcement to detect and disrupt illegal activity while also ensuring compliance with state and federal laws prohibiting certain individuals from carrying firearms.

“Keeping our communities safe requires a strong commitment, proactive policing and partnerships with law enforcement agencies, including those across state lines,” said Captain Robert Purdy of KSP Post 11 London. “The 6-State Trooper Project gives us an opportunity to share resources, information and strategies while working together to address criminal activity and promote safer roadways and communities.”
