Kentucky State Police Post 12 Frankfort Names New Public Affairs Officer

FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 28, 2026) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 12 in Frankfort has announced the appointment of Trooper Andy Stepp as the post’s new Public Affairs Officer. In this role, Trooper Stepp will serve as the primary media contact for the post and help strengthen communication between the agency and the communities served throughout central Kentucky.

Trooper Stepp will oversee public information efforts for Post 12, including coordinating media inquiries, distributing press releases, managing social media outreach, promoting public safety initiatives and community engagement programs. The KSP Post 12 serves Anderson, Fayette, Franklin, Scott, Shelby, Spencer and Woodford Counties. The position also involves providing timely and accurate information during major incidents and investigations.

“Trooper Stepp has demonstrated a strong commitment to serving the citizens of Kentucky since the beginning of his career,” KSP Post 12 Captain Doug Carter said. “I am confident he will continue building strong relationships within the communities we serve while representing Post 12 with integrity and professionalism.”

Trooper Stepp graduated from the KSP Academy as a member of Cadet Class 101, where he was selected to serve as Class President. After being sworn into the agency in March 2022, he was assigned to Post 12 in Frankfort, where he has faithfully served the region for more than four years. Throughout his career, Trooper Stepp has been recognized for his commitment to highway safety and enforcement initiatives. In 2023 and 2024, he earned back-to-back Governor’s Impaired Driving Enforcement Awards for his efforts to prevent drunk driving on Kentucky roadways. In 2024, he was honored as the KSP Post 12 Trooper of the Year. He has also received recognition from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
