Kentucky State Police investigate a fatal collision in Spencer County

Taylorsville, Ky.  (July 22, 2024) – On Sunday July 21, 2024, at 5:12 pm, Kentucky State Police Post 12 (Frankfort) received a call for service in reference to a fatal collision that occurred on U.S.150 and Old Louisville Road in Spencer County. Troopers from KSP Post 12 responded to the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2015 GMC Acadia operated by Laurie Hahn (49 years old) from Bloomfield KY, was traveling eastbound on U.S.150. A 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by James Oster (52 years old) from Louisville Ky. was traveling westbound when the GMC Acadia crossed the center line causing a collision.

Mr. Oster was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Bullitt County Coroner’s Office at 6:20 PM.

Laurie Hahn was placed under arrest and lodged in the Shelby County Detention Center, charges are as follows: Vehicular Homicide when under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Failure to wear seat belt, Fail to give right of way to vehicle passing in the opposite direction, Reckless Driving, failure of owner to maintain insurance, and Assault 1st degree

The investigation is ongoing by Troopers at Post 12 in Frankfort.
