
UPDATE: Kentucky State Police Investigates Attempted Murder in Owen County

MONTEREY, Ky. (August 10, 2025)- The shooting victim has succumbed to his injuries. Douglas was pronounced dead at the University of Kentucky hospital at 1:11 A.M. this morning.
Bullion has now been charged with murdering the victim. The following is a list of all current charges:
Charge 1: MURDER (ATTEMPT)
Charge 2: POSS CONT SUB 1ST DEG 1ST OFF (DRUG UNSPECIFIED)
Charge 3: POSS OF MARIJUANA
Charge 4: DRUG PARAPHERNALIA – BUY/POSSESS
Bullion is lodged at the Carroll County Detention Center.

MONTEREY, Ky. (August 09, 2025) – The Kentucky State Police are investigating a shooting in Owen County that left a Louisville man with multiple gunshot wounds. KSP Post 5 received a call around 2:00 AM on Saturday, August 9th about a man who had sustained gunshot wounds located near the Monterey community.
KSP Troopers and Detectives responded to the scene and discovered Jamar Douglas, a 26-year-old man, unconscious with multiple gunshot wounds. Preliminary investigation indicates that Douglas was shot by Gary Bullion, a 52-year-old man from Ghent, Kentucky. Douglas was flown to the University of Kentucky Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
Bullion is in custody and multiple charges are pending including drug related offenses. KSP Post 5 personnel were assisted by Owen County EMS, Monterey Fire Department, Air Methods, KSP Post 12, and the Lexington Police Department.
This is an ongoing investigation by Kentucky State Police Post 5 Detectives.
