Kentucky State Police Investigating Breathitt County Fatal Fire

Lost Creek, Ky (January 15, 2024) – On Saturday, January 13, 2024, at approximately 10:01 A.M, Kentucky State Police, Post 13, Hazard, received a 911 in reference to a structure fire on Leatherwood Road, located in the Lost Creek community of Breathitt County.

Troopers, along with Watts Caney fire department responded to the scene. Upon arrival, officials located human remains inside the home. The Breathitt County Coroners Office responded and pronounced the subject deceased.

The remains were taken to the Medical Examiners Office in Frankfort for Identification and autopsy. A cause for the fire is not known at this time. Foul play is not suspected. This incident remains under investigation by Trooper Justin Baker.
