
One Child Dead, One Injured Following Perry County Shooting
Vicco, KY. (October 14, 2020) – On Wednesday October 14, 2020 at approximately 10:25 A.M Troopers with Kentucky State Police post 13, Hazard along with Deputies from the Perry County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Montgomery Creek Road after reports that two juveniles had been shot.
Initial investigation indicates that David N. Hampton, 36, of Vicco shot two of his juvenile children. Both children were evacuated from a neighboring residence by Troopers to awaiting ambulances. Those children were transported to Hazard ARH where one of the juveniles was pronounced deceased by the Perry County Coroner’s Office. The second juvenile was airlifted to Johnson City to be treated for a gunshot wound.
Hampton was arrested and is charged with Murder, Attempted Murder and two counts of Wanton Endangerment. This incident remains under investigation by Detective Josh Huff.
