Kentucky State Police Charges Harlan County Man Following Investigation

Whitesburg, KY (February 13, 2024) – On Friday, February 9, 2024, an indictment warrant was issued in reference to an ongoing investigation being conducted by Detectives with the Kentucky State Police, Post 13, Hazard.

Brian W. Bailey, 54, of Benham, a former school teacher at Whitesburg Middle School, was indicted on charges relating to inappropriate contact and communication with a juvenile female dating back to November 2023, when the investigation began. Bailey was arrested for the indictment and charged with (3) three counts of possess/view matter portraying sexual performance of a minor, Rape 3rd Degree, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Bailey was lodged in the Letcher County Jail. This incident remains under investigation by Detective Scott Caudill.
