Kentucky State Police Investigate Knott County Fatal Crash
Leburn, KY (March 10, 2026) – On Monday, March 9, 2026, at approximately 8:02 p.m., Kentucky State Police, Post 13 in Hazard, received a 911 call reporting a single-vehicle collision on KY-80 in the Leburn community of Knott County.
Troopers, along with medical personnel, responded to the scene and located a black Toyota Camry that had traveled over an embankment off the westbound shoulder of KY-80. Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle left the roadway and rolled over the embankment, ejecting the operator, Keith Dingus, 68, of Langley.
Two juvenile passengers were located inside the vehicle. Both were transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Mr. Dingus was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Knott County Coroner’s Office.
The investigation indicates Mr. Dingus may have experienced a medical emergency prior to the collision. He was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy. Toxicology results are pending at this time. This incident remains under investigation by Trooper Jody Sims.
