Kentucky State Police Investigate Perry County Fatal
Slemp, KY (April 14, 2026) – On Monday, April 13, 2026, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Kentucky State Police, Post 13 in Hazard was contacted by the Perry County Sheriff’s Office to assist with the investigation and reconstruction of a two-vehicle fatal collision on Old Beech Fork Road in the Slemp community of Perry County.
Troopers responded to the scene and conducted a preliminary investigation. Initial findings indicate that a black Ford F-250 was traveling along Old Beech Fork Road when the driver failed to negotiate a steep curve, causing the vehicle to cross the center line and collide with a white Ford Explorer operated by Bobbie Boggs, 82, of Big Laurel. Mr. Boggs was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Perry County Coroner’s Office.
The operator of the Ford F-250 and two passengers were transported to Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Mr. Boggs was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort, where autopsy and toxicology results are pending. Seat belts were in use at the time of the collision. The incident remains under investigation and is being reconstructed by Trooper Jarrett Fields.
